Who We Are

The Establishment of Talleres Muñiz

In 1970 and after being in several positions of responsibility in the main Asturian sectors (mining, power, construction and iron & steel), Mining Technical Engineer Manuel Álvarez Muñiz took on a mission to establish a company for the development of metal constructions.

He built a 900 m² industrial unit on a 3,000 m² plot of land in the municipality of Carreño, near the iron & steel installations of company ENSIDESA (currently Arcelor-Mittal) and started his activities in the sector, TALLERES MUÑIZ S.L. was thus created.

Extension of the Installations

As a result of production requirements and the workload demanded by our clients, our installations were extended in 1995 with the construction of another 800 m² unit back-to-back with that already in existence, our installations therefore making up a total of 1,600 m².

The name of the company was also changed that year, going on to become CONSTRUCCIONES METALICAS MUÑIZ HERMANOS S.L.

The Activity of the Company

Our main activities at the start of the business were metal carpentry and the manufacture of spare parts for the iron & steel industry.

Gradually while always taking into account our clients’ requirements, by including new human and technical means we have been broadening our field of action by adding metal structurescapital goodspressure vessels, heavy boilermaking and industrial pipes, with the introduction of our production in the main industrial sectors, with a growth in our client base from that just in our region to that in other regions and, finally, other countries.

Currently, Construcciones Metálicas Muñiz Hermanos S.L. has the best human means in conjunction with technical means offering proven results, in order to provide the best service to our clients, covering the field of engineering, performing the designs, calculations, basic and detail engineering starting with the initial requirements provided by the client and the applicable standards, to continue with the manufacturing or simply manufacturing following the drawings supplied by the client.

From the manufacturing point of view, we perform all kinds of cutting, drilling, cramp-folding, bending, reinforcing and welding work, using the widest range of base materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, nickel-based alloys, etc.). Similarly, we perform welding part surfacing (stainless, wear-resistant, etc.).

Nowadays, quality is an essential requirement for company competitiveness in the world market. For this reason, we have been certified to the ISO 9001:2000 standard for the design, manufacture and repair of pressure vessels, metal structures and heavy boilermaking.

Continuous improvement regarding our production processes is intended, for this applying the latest methodologies such as the PDCA (Deming) cycle, Ishikawa Diagrams or Six Sigma.

Soon we will obtain the ISO 14001 “Environmental Management System” and ISO 3834 “Quality Requirements for Fusion Welding of Metallic Materials” certifications, together with the integration all three standards in a single company management system.

The following certifications are the result of the effort we make in ensuring our quality processes:
